Top 10 Emergency Water Restoration and Mold Removal Companies in Toronto –
Press Release

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Christmas is supposed to be a merry time, but when that toilet clogs or the sink starts overflowing there’s only one person to call—a plumber.

“We don’t shutdown; we don’t stop taking calls,” said Mike Marugo, Plumbing Service Manager with ABC Home & Commercial Services. “When the phone rings on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day it is someone in a panic.”

With more emergency calls coming in Marugo has an on-call list setup and a backup list to handle the demand. In his time as a plumber he has seen it all.

“I am standing in 6 inches of water,” said Marugo. ” My toilets are overflowing. There is brown stuff coming up in my tub.”

With COVID-19 restrictions and fewer people wanting strangers entering their home, he was unsure what the holidays would look like this year.

“We were expecting to slow down this holiday season,” said Marugo. “We have not (slowed down) we are up 8 to 12% from where we were last Christmas,” said Marugo.

More work, but Marugo says its worth it to help people during the holidays.

“Being able to save someone’s holiday when they were about to pick up and move or all of the Christmas presents were about to get ruined from raw sewage, and you get to save the day,” said Marugo.

His advice is to be patient and know there will be somebody there to help.

“Be kind to your drains, be kind to your water heater, and if they won’t be kind to you then give us a call,” said Marugo.

Marugo says his team goes through a mandatory COVID-19 assessment each day they start work. They also wear masks and other PPE when working in homes.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin City Council voted unanimously on Wednesday to give city staff the green light to negotiate an agreement with Aspen Heights Partners to redevelop tracts of city-owned land northeast of downtown, with the goal of building mixed-use properties with a focus on affordable housing.

This is part of a discussion the city has been involved in for five years about how to use the city-owned parcels at the site of the former HealthSouth rehabilitation facility and its parking garage at 1215 Red River and 606 East 12th.

AUSTIN (Texas Tribune) — The gambling empire Las Vegas Sands is pressing forward with its ambitious drive to bring casinos to Texas after a series of recent developments, including the death of its CEO, Republican megadonor Sheldon Adelson, have called into question how much momentum remain behind the cause.

The company made waves in Austin late last year as it built a high-powered lobby team and made clear it saw Texas as its next big expansion opportunity — “the biggest plum still waiting” in the industry. But since then, Comptroller Glenn Hegar released a fiscal forecast for the state that was much better than expected, quieting what had been mounting conversations about how gambling could be a new tax revenue source for the state.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is sending out some stimulus checks through the mail this month.

AARP warns people not to accidentally throw out their stimulus checks, since it was a common mistake during the first round of stimulus. Those who have yet to receive their stimulus through direct deposit should keep an eye on their mail for either a paper check or prepaid debit card.

Christmas is supposed to be a merry time, but when that toilet clogs or the sink starts overflowing there’s only one person to call—a plumber.

Plumbers expect increase in emergency calls over the holidays

inancial compensation for a person like this might be over a hundred thousand dollars. The typical person we are trying to identify is over 60 years old-and they served in the navy in the 1960s and 1970s. The financial compensation claim does not involve suing the navy. It does not matter if the person smoked cigarettes.

“Our top priority is seeing to it that US Navy Veterans get compensated if they had heavy exposure to asbestos in the navy decades ago and who now have lung cancer. Most of these people never get compensated because they and their family members are not aware the $30 billion dollar-asbestos trust fund was set up for them too-not just mesothelioma. If your husband or dad has recently been diagnosed lung cancer, he is a Navy Veteran and he had heavy exposure to asbestos when he served in the navy decades ago-please call the attorneys at the law firm of Karst von Oiste at 800-714-0303. We think you will be glad you did.” www.karstvonoiste.com/

The Oregon US Navy Veterans Lung Cancer Advocate’s free services are available to people with asbestos exposure lung cancer or mesothelioma in Portland, Eugene, Salem, Gresham, Hillsboro, Beaverton, Bend, Medford, Springfield, Corvallis or anywhere in Oregon. https://Oregon.USNavyLungCancer.Com

High-risk work groups for exposure to asbestos in Oregon include Veterans of the US Navy, power plant workers, factory workers, truck building workers, maritime workers, pulp and paper mill workers, public utility workers, plumbers, electricians, welders, auto mechanics, machinists, and construction workers. In most instances, the diagnosed person’s exposure to asbestos occurred in the 1950’s, 1960’s, 1970’s, or 1980’s. www.karstvonoiste.com/

According to the American Cancer Society for nonsmokers who have been exposed to asbestos in their workplace the risk of lung cancer is five times that of unexposed workers. https://www.cdc.gov/cancer/lung/statistics/index.htm.

The US Navy Veterans Lung Cancer Advocate says, “If your husband, dad, coworker or neighbor has just been diagnosed with lung cancer and you know they had significant exposure to asbestos in the navy, at a shipyard or while working at a factory, at power plant, public utility, or as a plumber, electrician welder, mechanic or any kind of skilled trades group in any state please have them call us anytime at 800-714-0303. Most people like this never get compensated-even though the asbestos trust funds were set up for them too. We are trying to change this sad fact.” https://USNavyLungCancer.Com
